Tuscola High School students have access to 2 subscription-based online sources for researching current topics. Students can login to these sources at school or at home. Login and password information is available at the library.
Issues & Controversies is designed to give you a detailed summary of the controversies surrounding your topic.
Use the "Search" box to begin if you already know what topic you are using. Or, scroll down the page to browse topics.
Suggestion: Start with a general keyword search on your topic (such as “Internet privacy” or “gun control") Then, scan the results to find the articles that you think will best fit your needs.
Optional: Use the "Sign-In” feature on the upper right of the home page to create an account, which allows you to save search results from session to session.
OmniFile gives you access to the full text of articles from 2,000+ magazines and journals. When you get your search results, click the title to see a summary of the article, or click “HTML Full Text” or “PDF Full Text” to see the full text. Note that you can click on the subject headings in the summary to find more relevant search results, if needed.
Suggestion: Start with a general keyword search on your topic, and then narrow the results as needed. It is often easier to narrow your results than to try to guess just the right keywords for a search.
Optional: Use the “Sign In” link in the top right corner to set up your own personal account, which allows you to save search results from session to session.
